Good solid unit, works well
I installed it in a drawer to be used as a gun safe. It was not easy to install, however, that's not a fault of this unit, but due to the way the drawer was constructed. I'm guessing it would be difficult to install in many situations, so unless you are somewhat handy, you might find installation a challenge. Once installed it seems solid, makes a reassuring clunk when locking or unlocking. The cards work through the wooden drawer front for unlocking no problem. You can use USB power or batteries, but not both connected at the same time. Wish they would have designed it so you could leave external power connected and have the batteries for backup during a power failure. The actual latching components are metal, just as pictured, but this lock is going to prevent only casual openings of the drawer, not a serious thief.

Serves it's purpose!!!
Farely easy to install for what it is. It definitely serves it's purpose. I installed this on a drawer ony nightstand and it definitely keeps the kids out. The instructions say the lock will unlock when batteries go dead, but I've been using it for almost six month now and they haven't went dead yet with using it almost every other day. This purchase was we'll worth the money. Too bad all this crap is made in china!!!

OK, here is the skinny on these locks
I needed something to lock my liquor cabinets and I bought two of these locks. To install them was a bit tricky but not over the top tricky. My main concern with these locks are that they are battery operated and fearing the batteries dying while the door is locked - like I've seen happen in a few posts here. To address that issue I used the two sided STRONG adhesive tape. The purpose of this was just in case the battery died I could literally use enough force to tear the tape and open the door without completely destroying the inside of my cabinets. Maybe even use a hair dryer to heat the wood first - I dunno. The AUX USB power wire they have on this thing is a joke, I honestly took a look at it and laughed - it's useless. If the battery dies how the hell are you going to get AUX power to the box with the cable INSIDE. It's cray - cray.So how did I install the boxes and door pins?? I installed two sided tape on the power box and then plugged the pin inside the box just as if it were locked. Then without sticking the power box to the top or cabinet wall moved the box back into the cabinet until the door pin was even (flush) with the edge of the outer wall or top of the cabinet then I made sure it was straight then stuck it to the surface. NOTE: If your door is countersunk you will need to measure the thickness of the door and set the box BACK deeper to accommodate that additional measurement THEN stick it on the surface. See if you don't do that on a countersunk door it will stick out. Once the box was set in place, I then stuck an additional piece of two sided tape on the back of the door pin, made sure it was straight and even and just shut the door. Once the door closed all the way it stuck easily right where it needed to be. It sounds more complicated than it was.If anyone just pulls the door open the tape is so strong it would damage the wood but not destroy it. If I screwed in the TINY screws it would come out easier if it was yanked on AND it would do hole and surface damage to the inside of the cabinet - hence both would be detected letting you know it was broken into by someone. These are FAR from high security anything so no GUN lockers for these people. The cards (3) per unit were already coded to each box and they worked great! So far so good though :-)

Perfect solution
Really what I wanted was a gun safe that could fit a suppressed pistol but there's not many options out there. I put this on my well built night stand drawer and keep the rfid card attached to my cell phone. Much easier than using a pass code to open my safe and more reliable than finger print. Was a real hassle to figure out exactly where to place things for my install but eventually I got it done.

Parts Do Not Line Up
I cannot use this as you can see from the photo the 2 pieces are not flush so I cannot mount it on a cabinet door. Next, the instructions are essentially useless, poorly translated, leaving you to find other resources to install. Finally, it says it is not compatible with iOS, yet the information before you buy said it is compatible. I am returning it and looking for a better product.

It works, don't put pressure on the actuator.
The media could not be loaded. I bought this for a concealment table I was making from a YouTube video. The intention was to have a hidden locking drawer that pushed out on its own when the lock unlocked. The gas springs put to much pressure on the lock actuator for the actuator to open. I used it on a different table and the lock works as expected with no pressure on the actuator. This lock can receive a single through 1.5 inches of wood.

Great Product
I was skeptical that this would function like I needed it to.It took about an hour to install on an Ikea dresser. The card programing was simple and the product has performed well.
