Growing Christmas Trees: Select the Right Species, Raise the Best Trees, Market for the Holidays. A Storey BASICS® Title

Must read for new Christmas Tree Farmers
We learned so much! The format is easy to follow, and easily understood. A must buy if you are considering investing in a Christmas tree farm! It goes into such detail as the varying soil requirements of different tree species, desirability of reach species, how to make wreaths, a comparison of several farming methods, a breakdown of specialized equipment, and even a year round calendar or necessary annual tasks. I read it quickly, but I've kept it handy as a reference thereafter.

I mean. . . .
This book is. . . fine.It is literally, a selection of paragraphs cut and pasted from Lewis Hill’s much more thorough (and more interesting) book - ‘Christmas Trees, Growing and Selling Trees, Wreaths, and Greens’.Like I said, this ‘book’ is fine, but I’d call it merely a summary, or a book report even of Lewis Hill’s original. Looks like the publishing company was just hard pressed for material and tried to pass this off as ‘new’.Ultimately, glad to have both on my shelf as books written on the topic are in short supply.

This is a small but helpful book. Based on the size and thickness of the book, I think it is a bit overpriced.

Good book based on N Amerca but OK in UK.
Basically it tells you quite well how to grow Christmas trees. It's based on N. America so relates to various areas there rather than UK but the principles are easily transferable. Found it useful but nothing in it that was too suprising to me. Even taking care many of my young trees have gone brown - I hadn't thought of the drying effects of a dry wind and the book, so far as I remember, didn't mention it.For commerial (rather than charity) sales there is good basic advice on variations in marketing techniques.
