Since i have this I've learned a lot about what to eat and when. Really helpful.

I was excited to order this needed item given all the positive reviews. However, I don't understand how they are justified when I consider my own experience now that I've had it for a few days. I do not see how I can consider ordering more test strips when my results have varied so wildly. In fact, this device is proving to be worthless. Even just now, using my last 2 strips, I got a 9.7 and a 14.6 readings (knowing I'm currently having a gout flare-up). The first day I got it, I took 4 successful tests (results were 17.2, 5.9, Hi, and 8.4) all within minutes. Later that day (again all within less than 5 minutes), I received 9.6, Hi, 19.8, and 14.9. Another morning, I took five consecutive tests (10.8, 10.0, 14.6, and 10.5); this was the most "consistent" set of results, but still nowhere near a point of providing any confidence in the meter or its results.

This device does just what it says. It quickly and accurately measures uric acid level in you blood. After suffering over a month long episode of gout, I bought this device to get the feedback I needed to help bring my uric acid to a level that reduced my gout. Translated to English, I assume, I got the instructions wrong on my first attempt. There is a depression on the device next to where the test strip enters that looks like the perfect place for drop of blood. It's not. The drop goes on the furthest end sticking out. Don't be alarmed by the finger stick. It is so tiny and painless, it's not a barrier. And you only need the tiniest drop of blood to activate.

I sent the first one back because I was getting wildly different readings on different people after many tests. The second unit and test strips seem to be more accurate and I think the accuracy is pretty close. It's easy to use and doesn't hurt to prick your finger with the included lancetts. Fast shipping.

My Aunt unfortunately has gout, so I’ve been helping her search for a device that will help keep her on track. This device is already so helpful for her in keeping track of her levels. She’s able to get accurate levels in the morning before eating or drinking anything, so it’s been great in helping her eat accordingly. Something that she has been having difficulties with in the past. She really needed something easy to use and accurate. We’ve tried a few other options and this is by far the best, very happy with the purchase. Wish that I found this one first for her! Overall it’s very easy to use, just do your due diligence and read the instructions carefully and you’ll be on your way.

There are two of these devices in the picture, both are identical manufacturers sold on Amazon under different names. The blue one (which is this item I am reviewing) produces readings over and over that are 20% to 30% different each time. I found the green one on Amazon as well, and just purchased it to see if it is more accurate. Again, same difference between subsequent readings. SO, I decided to test both AT THE SAME TIME WITH THE SAME DROP OF BLOOD and got 7.4 and 7.9 readings. WHAT A JOKE! I depend on accurate readings to identify how much Allopurinol to take and how to adjust my diet, and this difference in readings ruins any scientific method approach I can use to test my blood. I have returned both items and asked for a refund. DO NOT BUY EITHER OF THESE UNITS, it's cheap engineering and a failure!

What I dislike was that the plastic bag that Carries the lancets was open.
