Best there is? No. Amazing value? Yes.
I spent days researching on the web for a good quality preamp for my vintage turntable. I became a student of amplifier design and performance challenges and indicators. After all of that work, I realized that there are tiers to price/quality in this segment. If quality is your top priority, you should be spending $200-600. There is a mid tier of options between $66-$199. Then there is $65 and below. Depending on whose analysis you read, this preamp is either the best or tied for the best with another preamp that is at the top of that lower range. So for me, in the under $100 range I wanted to spend, I am delighted to have gotten one of the best under $100 products available for only $13. It’s one of those rare instances where spending the least amount of money puts you ahead of half the field of options priced many times more. I dig that.

Very Good Value
The unit is very quiet. Adds no hum or background noise even without attaching any ground wire. Overall sound always depends on other components but in my setup highs are very smooth with no shrillness or sissing when there is a"s" sang like in "saint". mids and bass also very good and I get a well defined sound stage. For the price what more can I ask?

Great purchase for turntables!
As someone who knows nothing about electronics, this was super easy to set up and works great for my new turntable! Shipment was quick without damaged parts, and there's no static or fuzz from the preamp so far. Glad I purchased!

Works as advertised.
Added this between my 1200xl mkII and a newish Pioneer receiver without a phono input. Added enough volume to kick pretty good.

Works great!
Small, inexpensive and works perfectly!UPDATE 2/9/23 - Bought a Fosi Box X4 thinking it would improve on the PP999 and offer more flexibility. Lots more flexibility BUT wow, was it a dud by comparison. Going to try ART or GoGroove next, in search for controls. So far, the $13 buck amp wins.UPDATE 3/15/23: Still think the PP999 is a winner for budget but the ART DJ Pre II was a big upgrade. I liked it quite a bit more regarding sound and variability. For $50 it is worth the upgrade if it falls within your budget. Tried Pro-Ject Phono Box for $120... not good. Sent that back... ART was WAY better. Since though... I found a box damaged iFi Zen Phono Preamp and went ahead and picked it up. It was 3x the ART price. I will say though, the iFi Zen is incredible to my ear. I did not intend on spending that much but I read and saw so many favorable reviews I wanted to try it. I'm keeping it because honestly, it's a whole different sound experience. The ART was very good... happy with it. Experimenting with the iFi Zen brought me into a totally different and better listening experience. Simply cost... ART is great for that budget. iFi is better (to me) and a higher budget.

Nice way to add a record player to a stereo
My young daughter is getting into vinyl records. I had to pull out my old '70s and '80s vinyls to show her what life used to be like before CDs and MP3 player. it's useful and educational so we needed a way to be able to play my 90's Gemini turntable through my mini sound system. I tied to hook it up to my old Kenwood receiver but one of the photo inputs was bad so only the right channel worked so this unit gave us the ability to play vinyl into a modern mini system using one of the pairs of aux inputs , with no problem...

Worth Every Penny
The built-in preamp on my AT-LP60 turntable was starting to go out, giving off loud, painful pops with nearly every record I played. I noticed that switching to the Phono setting on the turntable produced pop-free sound, though the volume was very low, as my receiver does not have a Phono input. If I wanted to use the Phono setting, I knew I would need an external preamp, so I did a bit of research and decided to take a chance on this low-price item. In short, it is such a noticeable upgrade over the AT-LP60's built-in preamp, that I wish I had bought this unit sooner! Highs and lows are more separated, and the high ends come through much more clearly than before. Bass is good, though maybe not as strong as the built-in preamp. This can be solved by adjusting the EQ on my receiver, and it's worth the tradeoff to be able to listen to my records without excessive pops. The item came well-packaged in a simple cardboard box, complete with an AC adapter. My turntable does not have a grounding wire, but I haven't had any issues with humming or distortion - the preamp produces clean sound with just standard RCA cables plugged in.For best results, I'd recommend using good-quality RCA cables for both input and output, and making sure that the AC adapter is plugged in the correct way. It does not have a polarized plug, so it could be easy to plug it in upside-down, thereby creating a grounding issue. Myself, I have both my turntable and this preamp plugged into the same three-tap extension cable. As this unit does not have an on / off switch, I would recommend unplugging it after each use. Some users have reported humming or other issues after several weeks of use, and I would imagine this could stem from the preamp always being plugged in and drawing a current. In short, for $14, this makes for a fantastic upgrade over the stock, built-in preamp on my turntable. Highly recommended, either as a standard preamp for an older turntable or as a modest upgrade in sound over an existing built-in preamp. For the price, you really couldn't ask for more!

After 8 Months It Will Not Work, full Damage.
Also I Connect This Preamp On My Universal Cassette Deck (Old System), & Other One My New Sony D40 (4.1) Home Theater System On This, But I Am Not Satisfy Of Sound. Both Sound Also Low, Not High Gain. But Bass Treble Is Always Good.No Extra Noise No Huming.Only One Issue Low Sound, Not Strong, Low Volume, No Powerfull. If You Need Sound = 100, It Will Give You Only = 45.*** Only Best Thing For This Preamp A New Adapter Come With It Which 220v (100-240) Direct Use On Indian Powe Supply.

Pyle Phono Pre-Amp
Actually the product was received during last week.My review : The product as mentioned is perfect for the purpose. I have a Philips GA242 semi-automatic turntable (with a Shure M25C Magnetic cartridge) from 80's. All this time i was using a Philips Ampli-tuner 15AH549.But i was unable to use my turntable with the new Denon AVR. Not all AVR's of present day come with a phono input. This is where the PYLE pre-amp comes in to play. This pre-amp suits perfect to new AVR's. Frequency response is good with almost nill noise of anykind. The only drawback i found was with the power adapter which is with 110volt AC ideal for US market. Either the manufacturer or the distributor should look into this issue and they should provide India suitable power adapter.

Not worth
The pyle pro 999 preamp is a good preamp with average sound boost and no humming or in other words nil noise of any kind but if you are a real vinyal record buff then you have to look for the best. Am already looking for another. This one will do your job for the time being..I want to add that have found a original Philips Holland made preamp and the difference is just unbelievable. So now this Pyle preamp was a waste of money. If you have a good pair of speakers and a good amplifier with a HIFI magnetic catridge turntable then you should look for a real proffesional preamp. Not this one

Great product. Great sound. Excellent value for money!
Great product. Its the only one of its kind I have used so don't know if there are better options but this one is great. The most basic of connections and its ready to bring out the sound of your LPs. WARNING: Those like me ordering from India, this device ships with a 110V only adaptor. In this day and age to not ship with destination country adaptor (220V) or universal one (100-240V) is a shame. But the product is good and well worth your money. It was among the lowest priced ones and I wasnt sure if ordering it was a good thing or mistake but since I was new to this category of product decided to chance it and have not been disappointed. Enjoy listening!
