Will this eliminate sound from the tv? my husband gets super pissed if i watch while he is sleeping.

The wonderful thing about these headphones is that they work completely independently from the TV volume.  The volume is controlled on the headset to whatever level you want to hear in the earphones while  the TV volume can still be controlled by the remote.  Sometimes my wife will be reading a book in silence while I watch TV on the headset (with the TV speakers at no volume) but if she looks up and wants to hear what I am watching she just turns the TV up and it does not change the volume in my earphones. So, yes, you can watch while he sleeps and he will not hear the TV.

Has anyone experienced that these kill wifi?  firestick and alexa speaker both don't work.  had to unplug this to get them to work again.

Yes Sir!
The issue you have described sounds very similar to the issue that I had, so try this.

1. First off, don't bother calling the tech supt line unless you enjoy being gravely  disappointed by sheer, empty-headed ignorance, coupled with a robust desire of not wanting to lift a finger to help! I was told via email that I "would probably have to live with" this enigma stain of technology. Nice cop out!
I don't know what Avantree is paying their tech supt team, but if it's more than minimum wage, they're getting ripped off! BigTime!!

2. Cutting right to the chase, use the "Optical Audio Cable", to have complete, independent, and total control over the sound coming out of your TV as well as your Avantree headphones.

To achieve this, it was simple. Even people who can't walk and chew gum at the same time can do this. Judging by the help I received from Avantree, I bet they never asked their tech supt applicants that question. 
I connected one end to the "Optical Audio Cable" to the "Optical Audio Out" jack on the back of my Insignia Fire TV edition 4K ultra HD, and the other end of the "Optical Audio Cable" to the ""Optical In" port clearly marked on the back of the Avantree "Transmitter Charging Dock".

With the Optical Audio Cable installed, apply power, and you should now have total control to independently turn off the sound coming out of your TV, and still have sound coming out of your headphones, which is the whole point of purchasing this item! And when I wanted to restore having sound coming out of my TV again, I used my Insignia TV Remote Control to raise the volume, and have the sound coming right back out of my TV again.

The "Optical Audio Cable" is one of four cables supplied by Avantree.

1 transmitter with two or more headphones?

Yes the transmitter supports multiple Bluetooth headphones. I was able to connect another BT headphone to the transmitter and audio was transmitted to both headphones. I really like this product a lot. The sound is clear and the signal is strong.

Question 4

My TV doesn't have simultaneous sound through bluetooth and internal speaker.  Will the transmitter connect to a soundbar to get additional sound?
