Q: Which seat height is better for me? I’m buying it to sit and read. I am 5’7” tall

I'm 5'5" and the 18 inch is fine height for our little breakfast table. It works fine for a meal but I wouldn't choose a stool for sitting and reading for any length of time.

Q: does this stool go together with screws? Looking for a wood stool without screws

Yes, there is one screw in each leg (4 in all) that secure the legs into the underside of the stool seat. I believe the legs are also glued so the screws could be removed, but this would be a compromise with safety.

A very nice stool (solid) 18" high, the seat is almost 12" across. It has to be sealed with verethane (sp)
