Lesson for the DIY mechanic

The auto shop charges $90+ for a belt and $90 for labour. Here's $16 belt with one of the best ratings on A. What am I missing? Well after jacking up the car (suzuki sx4 2009) and taking off underbody shield, I took off the old one and compared with this one. I could tell they are basically same length. Then came two hours of routing, pushing, pulling of this belt. I was exhausted, scared, and gave up! It looked like it's short by just a few mm.Then it was time to reflex, I read shoppers' rating and watched some youtube video. I can't believe almost 20% buyers on A said it didn't fit ! What a bummer I bought it nearly 2 months ago and didn't try it on till today. After going through some youtube videos I saw some people talking about using a "cheater" bar. That is an illuminating hint for me.Basically the 14mm wrench is too short to put enough torque on the tensioner(unless you are a muscle dude). So either you buy a 14mm long wrench or using the existing wrench inserted into a longer steel pipe. A brilliant variation was using 14mm and 17mm wrenches together: box end(circle)14mm on the tensioner hex bolt, open end of 14mm wrench "wedged" into the box end of 17mm. This way you get a tool twice as long as the 14mm wrench alone(hence 2x torque). Once you twist the tensioner bolt using this trick you get enough slack to push the belt onto the last pulley with ease! Ah, that must be why so many people say it didn't fit !Too bad I don't see a way to upload a picture of the wrenches jointed together here. The belt is running quietly and I will report any problems after a month or two.

correct power steering/alternator belt for 2007 Subaru Outback

This belt was correct for the power steering pump and alternator position for my 2007 Subaru Outback wagon with 2.5L SOHC engine. The size, width and groove pattern matched those on the belt it replaced, it went on easily, and it has been doing its job for several months and several thousand miles. Though I can't tell whether one brand belt is any better than another, I have used Bando brand belts before without any trouble. They are made in the US, and Amazon pricing is hard to beat. You just have to do the research to make sure that the part number is right for the application.

Fit my 2010 Suburu Forester

Bought this to replace the alternator/power steering belt for my new (to me) 2010 Suburu Forester. The existing belt was in the worst condition I'd ever seen- it was Mitsubishi made and after trying to have the dealer work with me on replacing it I decided to just do it myself. The belt fit perfectly. There was a little bit of initial squeakiness, but that has disappeared.Note to any armchair mechanics wondering if you can do it yourself: replacing this belt is fairly easy. You need a socket wrench with a 12mm and 10mm bit, beer, and something to whack the alternator with if it won't move for you (I used the end of a garden trowel- not necessarily recommended by real mechanics). Just find a You Tube video and save yourself at least $50 and an hour of your time by having it done professionally. Thanks!

DID NOT FIT!!!

According to the spec sheet, this is supposed to fit the alternator for a 2003 Forester. Even with me dropped the alternator as far down as possible, it would not fit. I tried various ways, starting with different pulleys but nothing worked. I will return this one and order a one from a different manufacturer.

Wrong belt for Saturn 1.9 Dohc with AC and PS

I had never seen a Bando belt before. Its made of EPDM, the stitching is very nice and its made in Japan. I would definitely try this brand going forward. However, the ad here said it fit my 199y Saturn SC2 with AC and power steering and that is incorrect. The belt is shorter than the one I removed by about 3 inches. I sent it back for a refund and got one.

Fit's perfectly.

Just what I needed to fix my car...I have a 2007 Saturn Vue with 179,000 miles on. It is a little the worse for wear cosmetically, but it just keeps running and is very useful. Of course things fail though after 10 years. I ended up replacing the alternator belt because it was looking a little iffy.

OK but not the same quality they used to be

Good for 2 years or 24k miles, thats it. My 97 jeep has its original belt with 147k miles, I carry a spare and the tools to change it. This is for my 02 tracker, they only last about 24k miles. Belts now are made of a different material, like rubber. They used to be like a belted fabric rubber and really lasted. The pulleys are aligned, I have a belt tension gauge, I am not some tard tightening it down so it twangs like a guitar string. Its not soaked in oil either. Just 121k miles.

Top-notch belt.

This replacement belt for the power steering/alternator on my 2009 Subaru Impreza is as advertised, appearing to be of good quality and delivered on time. Would buy again.

Great Replacement Belt.

Belt on my 2010 Forester was squeaking. Already tried retightening but that didn't work. This went on easily. However I did have to retension it after initial run as it started to squeal. After doing that it is great!

No more squeel!

So far so good. I used this as a replacement on a 2010 Subaru Impreza after the oem belt became worn and started squeeling. Slipped this belt on and the squeeling is gone!

WRONG SIZE FOR 2001 2.2L CAMRY

Was not the correct size for a 2001 Camry 2.2l it's long enough for the alternator but isnt long enough for the AC pulley, the correct size seems to be 5PK 1100. Got it on but no ac now.. sucks
