This product works!
I purchased 2 Bug Balls. Love to walk but I couldn’t make it down the driveway without getting swarmed and bit. It was time to take my life back. I will note I tried the brush glue method it is little tedious to spread but once the deer flies or any other insects land on the ball it’s game over. The glue spray I bought separately. It was like spraying silly string and you definitely need a few coats to get the extra glue needed. If it rains of course the glue becomes less sticky.

Just Buy it!
This year we’ve had a problem with the deerflies at our house couldn’t even walk outside without getting swarmed. After doing some research and figuring out that royal blue is a color that they are attracted to I bought these and they work amazing!! It has significantly dropped the numbers of deer flies on our property.

Does not work
Was very disappointed in this product, had Ball up with the product and got nothing😖…for over a week.. flies and deer flies were still bad. Don’t buy this product. Wish I had taken a pic after a week but my husband just said I wasted my money and threw it away 😖

Ineffective
I purchased these based on some of the reviews and other sites. They were placed at various height and locations, as recommended, but none of them were successful. They have been a waste of time, money and effort. This has been a bumper season for horse flies and deer flies, and after a month of placement they have caught a whopping 3 deer flies and 1 horse fly (along with a butterfly, a moth and numerous knats). These were placed near and around the paddocks with horses and donkeys, where the flies are prevalent, but nothing. I have killed more horse and deer flies with my hands in one day then these have caught in a month.Packaging: The balls were shipped in bags, but the cans of adhesive were not and leaked all over the inside of the boxes and the contents.Adhesive: Like other reviews, application with the little brush was futile and time consuming. Also, because it went on so thick and clumpy with the brush, a lot of it melted and dripped off in the heat. Fortunately there was still enough on the surface to catch what it could. I also utilized a can of the spray adhesive on one of the balls, which was remained on the ball, but was no more effective then the can stuff.Recommendation: Personally I will not purchase these again. I will purchased other adhesive and apply it to something else as the flies did not perceive these to be animals. I will change their locations in hopes of some improvement, and if so will provide and updated review.

It's alright
It took almost the hole bottle of adhesive to cover the ball and doesn't spread very easily. Once it's on the ball, it drips so make sure there's nothing important under where ever u hang it. By the next morning most had dripped off and it just looked like it had some dew on the ball. It does catch bugs though. Got it to get rid if some of the deer flies around the pool. Caught lots of house flies and dragon flies and 1 deer fly and plenty of them still flying around so not as good as I wanted.

Better than the Black Ones
The blue ones work better than the black ones. Doesn't eliminate the population of strawberry/deer flies, greenheads, or horse flies but greatly reduces their annoyances. The paint on sticky coating is a pain to put on but more effective than the spray.

Great for May Flies
We have, here in eastern Virginia, what we call May Flies each spring. I think they are a variety of black, deer, or otherwise, biting flies. I put up my two balls, one near the house and the other out back. In a couple of weeks, both have lots of May Flies stuck on them. Most prefer the top of the ball, so the stickum need't be used all over. A few years ago, I started wearing a blue hard hat in a similar manner. I put blue painter's tape on the top and put stickum on top of the tape. I wear it outside when mowing or otherwise doing yard work. Some years I have to replace the tape and goo because I catch so many flies. Blue works to attract them and these balls work!

Effective for Deer Flies
I have used the black version and this blue version hanging from 84" shepherd's hooks in a location that gets full sun, no shade. The blue is more effective for attracting and trapping deer flies. I use the brush-on coating when I initially put them up at the beginning of summer, then periodically recoat the balls with the spray-on coating. Applying the brush-on coating is a bit tedious, but I only have to do it once per summer. Around October, I remove the balls and trash them since there is no way to clean the mess.
