Although the sylvania bulbs will work, they are not as bright as the PHillips bulbs.

Easy to replace bulbs.

*** LESSON LEARNED!! A few, actually... ***1) I saw a bunch of people were asking what the bulbs say, if they have anything printed on them. The last update was 2 years ago, so here is a pic of the ones I got.2) I was under the assumption that the bulb/ packing would specifically state that it was dimmable, if in fact it is. Apparently that's an urban legend. ;) The packaging & bulb don't list it... anywhere. I went back and reread the description & looked at the product image and it states "dimmable" in the information section, but nowhere else.3) I would love to let you know how long these bulbs last; however, it turns out there are different sizes of interior flood lights... and these don't fit in any of the can lights in my parents' house. I just thought you had to distinguish interior floods from exteriors floods. And incandescent from LED. And, of course, wattage! Nope!!! There is more than one size of interior flood light that is not descernable to the untrained eye or someone that is told to just go buy some flood lights for the living room!!! Look inside the can light and you'll see a sticker that states the wattage max, based on different bulb options. I though BR was the only important detail of the spec, but it appears BR30 is critical. BR40 is what these Amazon bulbs are... and they are HUGE!4) I have 5 stars for my rating because bulbs were a great price and packaged super well!! Almost too well.Attached some pics.

The only complaint I have is the longevity of some of the bulbs. So how do I know this? I have about 18 recessed lights between my kitchen and living room. So what I did was replace half the lights with these bulbs and the other half with another brand same watts, voltage etc... I won't name the other brand other than it is very popular name. So what I found was that the other brand certainly lasted longer but not by much. In my test the other brand lasted about 2 weeks longer than the Phillips but cost almost 60% more. So I concluded that the these Phillips bulbs were the best value but necessarily the best bulb. Yes, I may have to change them out more frequently but the savings is worth it. I would recommend these bulbs and have purchased several times myself.

For incandescent light bulbs, these Phillips 65-watt bulbs are great. If you buy them by the dozen at $29.12, this works out to $2.43 a bulb. The colour temperature is warm at 2710 Kelvin which gives a soft, comfortable, and relaxing atmosphere for your home (compared to harsh white office lights). Phillips states that if you used these bulbs for an average usage of 3 hours/day for 7 days/week, they may last about a year. For me, this was not the case as they lasted about 3-4 years with regular usage.There are pros and cons to the type of bulb you choose for your home. If you went with a classic incandescent light bulb, they may be cheaper initially, but they will cost you more in the long-term with energy usage. They also tend not to last that long comparatively.If you're in the market to upgrade to LED technology, LED bulbs will cost you double upfront, but they will save you tons of money in the long-term with their reduced energy usage. LED light bulbs also last the longest (18-years). Phillips specifically states that their  LED light bulbs  use 80% less energy than their incandescent 65-watt bulbs, yet they still output similar results. So, if you're looking at overall costs, LED light bulbs may be the best bang for your buck in the long-term (even though they're deceivingly more expensive up front). I can't be the one to decide what fits you and your needs, so you'll have to decide that for yourself!

The box the bulbs come in say they last 2.3 years. They don’t - not even close. I know because I started writing the date on them when I replaced them. So, I contacted Philiips to complain. They asked for some pictures of the defective bulbs and a receipt. I sent them photos of 8 short-lived bulbs and they shipped 14 new ones to me. That’s above and beyond “standing by your product”!

Those of us with 5 & 6-inch can lights are running out of time to stock up on the bulbs we need (in my case, these BR40 style). I have over 40 can light locations in my 90's designed home (when recessed lighting was the hot ticket), so I've always got extra's for replacement. When Amazon is out, thank goodness the nice folks at Light Bulbs International have cases of these ready to ship (my experience with them is 100% positive - they properly packed and quickly shipped the order, and their communication is EXCELLENT). These are the BIG honkers that use a parabolic setup to diffuse light, so make sure your can light opening is at least 5" diameter.

Work great in our home and have lots left for future use

The BR40 is one of those weird pot lights that in our house are hit and miss in terms of service life. I don't know if it's our wiring, but some lights last for years. I needed to get a box and have a number of spares and this is my second box, and I'm happy with them. Our wiring in the house not so much.

Product is great but we received some bulbs that didn’t work (were dead) to begin with.

Not surprized that one of the bulbs failed.

It arrived with one broken bulb. However, I installed one shortly after arrival and it certainly brightened up my den.
