Will ColorReader work for mixed colors and or pigments?

I'm an interior designer and use it to select paint colors from things like fabric down to tile. One of the best purchases I've ever made. I think it works on whatever you use it on.

What is the minimum area size required to obtain a reading, e.g. 1/2”, 1/4”, etc?

I would assume the size of the lens which is about 3/4”.
