Good and Needed Purchase
Ordered last night. It showed up before Morning's First Light! Metal construction and Metal Base! Works better than the plastic things they sell at Walmart! Works just as well as the pencil sharpeners our Grade School Teachers had screwed onto the top of their desks. Probably last just as long! Getcha' one!

Sharp and fast
Cuts fast, seems sturdy, should last for generations. Sure beats replacing batteries in the electric one that bogs down anyway.

Great pencil sharpener✏️
Works great!! Bought this for work, because the others we had were cheap.

The PRO version worked well, and can replace the blades.
I purchased 3 Bostitch items. __________________ 1. "Stanley Bostitch Professional" manual pencil sharpener (wall mount, or table mount with a removable bracket)(I included a picture) Specs: - Made in China - The hole marked "standard" size (measured .309") worked great with three "standard" pencils of slightly different diameters. (& didn't scrape off their paint like their VAC mount sharpener does) - The hole guide (metal) has 8 openings which I measured from .254" to .431". It was somewhat difficult to turn. I had to get a grip and pull out on it, while turning. It has rounded edges and was not so easy to pull out to release the DeTent tension to rotate it. I found that if I pushed sideways against the hole wheel, that edge would lift away, and then I could turn it pretty easily. - CUTTER: The box advertises ""Tip Saver Technology" prevents oversharpening, extending pencil life." It sharpens with two rotating cutter blade cylinders. They turned very smoothly, trimmed the wood smoothly and evenly at both tip, and at top of cut. The sharpened lead stays centered in the wood, with a good tip. I had no lead breakage while sharpening. The new cutters want to rotate the pencil and I had to hold the pencil tightly. I pushed in too hard and I'd ground off half an inch of an already sharpened pencil before I realized it. I found that if I push so hard as to crush the fine point, then it does NOT simply stop when it's sharp. If I use barely enough "push" to engage the cutters while turning the crank, it did OK, and when I felt less resistance, I stopped and found it sharp. (I had to push in hard with my old dull sharpener just to get it to cut, the wood was rough, and it had many broken leads. (so- sharp tools are nice.)) - Handle Knob: is a larger triangular shape 1" deep x 3/4" diameter (Plastic and rubber) that was easy and comfortable to grip to sharpen with. Box says "ergononic kid grip". I'm thinking it was much easier for me with larger fingers.) (Much better than the tiny knob on their Vacuum mount sharpener) - The housing that catches the wood/lead chips is metal. It can mount hanging in 4 different directions. - BASE: The base mounts two ways 1. Three small 5/8" penetration slotted wood screws. Because they are not full thread screws. The top 1/8' to 1/4" of the screw has no grip. They are only barely sufficient if mounting directly into fairly hard wood. You'll want different screws if you must go through plaster to reach a stud, or into soft pine like many door frames, etc.. It can be mounted screwed under the BOTTOM of a shelf, instead of on top. The shelves would need to be at least 5-3/4" to 6" apart. If it were mounted sideways under a shelf, there was enough clearance for the crank swing so I didn't hit my thumb or knuckle against the shelf. If mounted under or on top of a shelf with hole facing rear: Shelf must be at least 11-1/2" deep to insert a full size pencil without hitting the wall. 2. A detachable Wing-nut tightened table mount rod bracket pushes into the rear handle end of the base. On a 3/4" thick table top, it did fine. The bracket would fit a 2" thick surface. The plastic under-table clamp pad extends only 1" under the edge of the table. Just sufficient, and I suppose it allows for narrow table top lips. The clamp front wraps-around the bottom table edge. It both protects the edge of the table from the screw threads, and it also helps keep the clamp from twisting. The metal base was fairly well smoothed. I used sandpaper to clean off a slight rough spot by a hole on the bottom. It table mounts with the pencil HOLE facing away from you, towards the middle of the table. The bracket rod fits into its REAR Handle side. I cut a piece of the thin cardboard from the small box it shipped in. When I clamped it down I placed it between the sharpener base and my table top. (it helps it grip better, and protects my table top) I think a chunk of rubber cut out of a dishwashing glove might work well to help keep it stationary, and also protect a table top. (use double stick carpet tape to fasten it to the sharpener base, and then trim it to fit.) (self-stick Felt might also work well?) NOTE: - The wing-nut mounting bracket CANNOT be used to mount the sharpener SIDEWAYS under a shelf. __________________ 2. I ordered a spare double "blade" assembly: (it arrived very fast, but defective) Stanley Bostitch MPS1-K Replacement Cutter (bar code 077914040286) 1. Made in China 2. This only fits the "Bostitch Professional" sharpener (When I opened it I found It was NOT going to fit my other new "Bostitch vacuum mount" sharpener.) 3. It arrived defective: ONLY ONE of the two KNIFE CYLINDER BLADES COULD BE ROTATED. (one blade was assembled with the bottom of the blades smashed into un-trimmed protruding metal. (The blades actually gouging some of the soft metal away) - I took a vice-Grip pliers and with a rocking motion, pulled the axle pin from the stuck sharpener wheel. (The knurled pin head only presses 1/16" into the top, and the bottom of the pin simply slides into a hole.) - I used a Dremel power tool with a grinding wheel in it to grind down the flawed area so the blade wheel could spin freely now. (The last little bit of metal was cut out by the blade itself after I re-inserted it. I rolled it both directions on a cardboard to be sure it turned smoothly. It THEN just needed a couple light taps on the blades axle pin to push it securely back into place.) I examined that part of the similar blade in the "Bostitch Professional" sharpener. I didn't take the blade out of the Assy, but the metal there appeared to be flat, It didn't look like it was convex around that blade end at all. Very strange. I Tested it: Holding the PRO sharpener's blade assy. with a cloth, I turned the handle counter-clockwise a few turns to unscrew it from the blade assy shaft. Its blade assy. pulled right out and I inserted this "replacement" blade assy. and screwed the handle back on. I verified that it worked well, with a smooth clean cut and good lead tip. __________________ 3. The "Stanley Bostitch Vacuum Manual pencil Sharpener" - Made in China - The "standard" marked hole size (measured .297") scraped the paint off a "standard" size pencil of the exact same size as that hole. It was ok with an different "Empire yellow No2" pencil(.295" diameter). - The plastic hole guide has 6 openings which I measured from .255" to .390" sizes. It was easy to rotate the hole ring. - The knob on the handle is only 3/4" deep, and 1/2" diameter. Workable, but feels like I'm barely gripping it. CUTTER The handle fastens to the "cutter" with a crimped on metal cap. This "cutter" is NOT replaceable. (This cutter is also a slightly different design than in their PRo version. This one does NOT advertise "tip saver".) This cutter did NOT feel to be as sharp as their PRO version. - The housing that catches the wood/lead chips is metal, and can hang/mount in 4 directions. - BASE: suction cup; activated and released by a lever. It worked very well on non-porous surfaces. It had plenty of holding power, and was still holding when I ck'd 10 minutes later (but not at 40 minutes). - This one was a bit noisier than the professional one, probably due to the crank design. My biggest complaint with this sharpener is that it did NOT sharpen the pencil tip evenly. I measured 1/4" difference in height of cut from one side of the pencil tip to the other side of the pencil, (where the wood was cut back). The guide hole does NOT line up with the sharpener cutters axis. That's incredibly extreme, but perhaps not for China manufacturing??

Works as it should.
I homeschool the grandkids and we needed a pencil sharpener for use in the classroom. This sharpener seems to be well made. Just a few turns of the handle and you will quickly have a sharp pencil.

Quick and easy way to sharpen your pencils.
This is the old fashioned pencil sharpener, but it always works to sharpen pencils. The electric ones don't work when the power goes out.
