... this for a few days but the environment was pretty extreme. The beam is super wide

I've only used this for a few days but the environment was pretty extreme. The beam is super wide, with very soft shadows and is bright enough for 90% of what i do on the low setting.I cut up and glued the hat clip to my welding mask to help me avoid shadows during night work. It's been rained on and burnt pretty good and the lens doesn't even show a mark, the button is easy to manipulate even with thick welding gloves. Best part is if I do break it i can just buy another one and clip it to the mount that's attached to the lid.. would be great for a hard hat light

When this dies, it DIES

I’m a cable technician and I’m often in tight spots that require reliable light. This isn’t a bad light for the price. It has a wide beam with two settings for brightness. The first is okay, but I don’t use it much. To be able to see what I’m working on, I use the second setting. But it kills the battery. And fast. When this dies, they are not kidding, it will shut off like a light. No warning. I’ve been up on a utility pole working when this thing just shut off. I wish they would incorporate some flashing warning sign or something, hence the four stars. My fix to this was to buy a second light, and have that charging as this one discharges through use. So far it’s working well. I use it on the hard hat, and the mechanism this uses to attach allows for a fairly quick disconnect and reconnect.TLDR; It’s a solid light. It’s rechargable and puts out a decent wide beam. Buy two if you’re using this in a heavy duty setting.

Exactly what I needed in a headlamp.

I needed a few different lighting options in my line of work. I have rechargeable spot and floodlights, I needed something small and handsfree. You look around online and see all these different options foe headlamps At one time I considered buying rechargeable batteries and then having a battery charging station in my truck. That seemed outdated to me. The charge port is unobtrusive, the light modes are simple to switch through. I have no need of a long range light so the simple, well diffused flood light works well in my application. The flashlight seems well built, just like any other Streamlight product. There is a WHOLE LOT of electronic technology in this light. You have to disable the 'Demo' mode by fully charging it. The Lithium Polymer battery is not replaceable in this model, so when you run out of juice, you have to charge it. Which means taking it off your head. That isn't a problem for me, as I use the "low" setting almost exclusively. And if I am working with this overnight, about the time the battery dies, the sun will come up. There is no indicator for when the battery is getting low. The light simply quits. Considering it weighs 1.4 ounces I wouldn't want them to put any voltage sensing circuitry on it. If you use this thing daily you may blow through the recharges on this lamp's battery. Which is supposed to be 300-400. I use it weekly, so I am expecting to surpass streamlight's warranty of 2 years. That is a nice touch, I have their Stinger DS, and I had had it rebuilt over the last 6 years owning it. They always honor their warranty with me. Overall this is a great little lamp, it does exactly what I need it to do, with no frills or extra weight. No unnecessary accoutrements or features.

CHARGE IT FIRST

This is light weight simple to use and l like the yellow color in case it gets dropped in the field. When first bought this light and pushed button the light was very bright making me think it was charged, however as soon as released the button it would go out and I couldn't get to stay on making me think the switch was broke on it. I am glad I decided to charge it before returning it. Once charged it works perfectly and I am even thinking about ordering a 2nd one to have one for the house and one for the car.It has 2 easy to get to settings for medium and bright light. It also has a strobe feature. It comes with with a single adjustable headband you can put on it or you can use a clip to put on the bill of your hat. The light pivots up and down. Its USB rechargeable. I do not think the rechargeable is replaceable but If I can get a few years use out of it for 20$ I can live with that.

So practical, Handy USB charging

I love this little thing. During this COVID19 craze, I’ve been bringing this to work due to selective power saving. Some of our floors at work have the power turned off (I work at a hotel). So, this thing has more than paid for itself in practicality. Are there more powerful options out there? Sure, but they aren’t as lightweight. When you need to giraffe your neck under your car to wrench on it, this will be a godsend! This one is actually a replacement of the black one that I lost a year ago. It was so practical, I had to order another one. Thins time in highlighter yellow so I don’t lose it. In an emergency situation, (like a bugout bag), this isn’t as practical because it need electricity to charge the battery. So, you’re better off with one that needs batteries for a bugout bag.

The poor switch design kills the usefulness of the light.

I have quite a few Streamlights and love every one of them, but I regret buying this one. The light distribution is wide and even, but it is not very bright and does not have a bright center beam--this isn't a bad thing if you just want general illumination. It does have multiple brightness levels. But what just kills this product is I can't trust and rely on it. I have had this in my backpack, in my travel carry on, in the hard storage case on my snowmobile for night riding, and even in the center console of my truck. EVERY time, something has bumped the light switch and turned it on. If I catch it, it's extremely warm from being on in an enclosed place. If I don't, the battery is dead when I need it. I have never been able to actually use this outside my house due to it accidentally getting turned on.If they put a lockout or redesign the switch so it can't get bumped on so easily, it would be my go-to light because it is the smallest, lightest headlamp I own, and it is rechargeable so I can always have it full and ready to go.

overheating problem

this light gets really hot specially in high setting as you use it strapped to your forehead it just becomes unbearable to use as a strap on light. been using it for over a month now and on low setting its perfect to use around the garage i just wish they fix the heating issue.
