Purchase and Installation Advice
There are several variations of these door handles for sale here on Amazon. I would recommend the improved design with the metal handle. It may be designated with a "Z" in the part number. It is not necessary to remove the door panel, despite the advice in online videos. That requires unbolting the seat belt as well. The easy way: Simply remove the two screws from the handle itself, and pull the handle from the door. It will still be attached to two guide rods (upper latch and lower latch). Open the plastic clip that is directly visible and remove it from the upper guide rod. Now it will be possible to rotate the handle and do the same for the clip attached the lower guide rod. A screwdriver may be used to pry open the plastic clip. Just be sure to pry on the correct side. It does take a little bit of force. Use a flashlight for a better look.Someone mentioned re-using the original plastic clips (black) as they do seem sturdier than the new ones (red and green) provided. I saved the originals just in case. If the new clips fail, I will install the originals. When installing the new handle, I attached the clips to the midpoint of the threaded area on the guide rods. That seemed to work fine. Both upper and lower latches were released when the handle was squeezed. My vehicle is a 2002 Chevy S10 Pickup and I purchased the Dorman part. It arrived with red and green clips although the photo depicted black clips.

Super easy to install
Five minute install! Works perfectly. Wish the handle was metal instead of plastic, though.

Works great
Can't believe I put up with a broken door latch for about 8 years. My husband whinned about having to take the whole door apart to put on a new latch. I saw this, watched a few replacement videos, removed two screws from the outside of old door latch, hooked up the new one and now I have a working door.

Works as it should
I don't know why Amazon says this won't fit my S-10. According to Rockauto.com, the part number is correct for my application. Had no issues installing it.

Review/ install instructional & tipzzz
Review: yes, the actual moving handle of this door handle is metal but the bracket or “frame” is plastic. You’ll notice the moving handle is cooler than the rest/ of a metal material although it’s covered in the same paint as the frame. That being said that’s probably what broke on your vehicle huh! (Ditto...)INSTALL: first unscrew the two screws at the top with that funky hex screw. Use a flat head screw driver to pry off the handle from the actual door. You’ll notice it’s stuck in there by 2 clippies similar to the ones that came with yours.. DONTBREAK THEM!! Use that flat head or smaller flat head to push down the 2 tabs holding the clippy onto the door handle. Start with the left clippy then go to the right or which ever is easiest to get to first. NOW do NOT MOVE THE ORIGINAL CLIPPY. Just mark on the cable where the clippies are Incase you need to replace it- if you don’t need to replace it —- don’t! Just pop on the new handle from the right to the left or the reverse of how you put it on. Re- screw the handle in place and test it out. If it’s kind of sticky at times and harder to open- that’s probably because you are used to a weaker spring— you can re adjust where the clippies go just try not to drop them into the door...

Time will tell
Will see how it lasts in the long run but initially it seems like a decent part for the price.
