Hi How strong is this when it is locked eg at night as we have a cat who can open a locked staywell cat flap and escape, quicker than I can!

This is very strong. Have several cats that have tried to get in to no avail and our own cat has never managed to vet out either all though she had managed to with our old staywell magnetic which we manually locked at night. This was expensive but worth every penny

What size is the actual door opening?

14 cm wide and 17 cm high. One of my cats is rather large (fat) and gets through no problem. The electronic whirring when the flap is activated did spook the cats a little for a couple of days. However the option of sitting out in the rain or putting up with a slight whirring noise soon becomes a no brainer. Now they use it without a second thought.
