Quality start for a self build reel
Good quality reel at reasonable money. All leads could do with an effective lead in to wind/unwind, sadly you have to pay a premium for that extra.Plug covers snap shut to avoid socket contamination. Brake on inner edge to hold reel from running freely.A good reel

Sturdier than the plastic ones
Bought because my plastic one finally gave up. This seems much sturdier and hopefully longer lived. Easy to wind and unwind.

Not the expected quality for a West German product
I can’t say there is anything terribly wrong with this product. The spool is sturdy and well galvanized (Germany has a long history in running highly efficient galvanizing factories) and it looks and feels up to the job.My main concern is the actual socket outlets, which have flimsy plastic covers and internal connections via a screw connection block. I wish that the electrical components were of a bit better quality to match the actual spool.So overall I would say that this product is adequate and will do the job rather than being of the top “über quality” we expect from tools made in West Germany.I regret that in the instance of this cable spool, Der Führer would not be proud of you.
