Upgraded my 2011 SR5 - yes these DO work on earlier models
I have a 2011 SR5 with the original OEM tail lights. When one of them cracked, I researched replacements and ended up with these Huray units. These are high-quality, convincing copies of the OEM units for the 2014 - 2020 model year. They are advised as not appropriate for the earlier version of the 5th Generation. I'm not sure why that is. From personal experience this afternoon, these are an easy plug-and-play replacement to the original units. You can see in the product images that the single point of connection is identical to what the earlier 5th Generation already has. There is no need for any additional 3-way adapter or a capacitor, etc. These units already have that. Just swap out the bulbs (except not the brake) and make sure to re-route the turn signal so that it uses the 'top' hole in the car body and you can replace the lamp without removing the housing. Two 10 mm nuts and you are done. The LED brake lights are fantastic and the overall fit and finish is better than I would expect and better than another set I bought (and returned) which cost almost twice as much (and had condensation). I live in snow country and will update this review if I see any condensation with these. If you have an earlier 5th Generation 4Runner and want to upgrade your backside - these are a great option.

Easy install, replace two bulbs, not three.
20 minute install. I got confused with the "three bulbs" mentioned in the installation video.There are two bulbs to replace (backup and turn signal). The third (brake) seems to be a built in LED and is included with the unit.

Fit identical to oem
Holy wow, they look and fit EXACTLY like OEM for like 80 bucks. I backed into a wall breaking my light, ordered this on the spot 5 minutes later and 2 days later I installed it, and it took MAYBE 5 min to swap out the broken one for this.

Not oem, but good quality overall. Pull your taillight off first- helps to have a long 10mm socket, and look at the back of the new one, specifically the gasket compared to the oem. Mine had the wiring harness outside the gasket, versus under like oem so I had to move it underneath.

fit great, easy to install but was not plug and play as advertised
The light fit great; installed easily but then did not work. I pulled it back out and thought a wire was loose but after some head scratching discovered no bulbs were included. There were no instructions included with the light assembly. I put in my old bulbs and it worked fine. if the manufacturer had included a note on lack of bulbs or better yet included new bulbs I would have given it 5 stars
