The little stove that could

We love this little guy! We have used it for camping in rain and wind conditions. We created a "hot tent" setup with a 10x10 canopy + 4 plastic sides that we attached to the canopy walls - not a fully closed space, but good enough to block the wind and rain. This little stove is amazing!Pro: starts up easily. It is well designed to pull through the chimney and it has oxygen control slats at the bottom for air intake. You get some but not much smoke when you open the door.It burns hot! Look at the photo to see the chimney glow red. It puts out heat well. We even cook on it. The side metal bars that fold out are great for drying clothes or keeping food warm - they seem sturdy, we've put pots with food on them and no issues with sturdiness. The portability and storage is great: the chimney fits inside the stove, the legs fold down, the side racks are handles.Con: it is a wood guzzler. I mean you really go through the wood quickly. The size is small so you need to have your wood chopped at half-length. This is annoying when camping: we had to buy a portable saw. You are almost always going to be chopping wood, that's how quickly this burns. You have to watch it every 15 min as it will burn out and you lose heat. But this is the case with all small stoves. Going forward, we are pre-cutting wood at home. The air intake control is there, but I find it not very helpful: i could not get that sweet spot of slower burning: either it burned very hot, or i choked it and it died down. I tried many times to get it right. I wish there had been a better way to control this than the front slats. The door glass got dark and sooted very quickly. You have to clean it once a day if you want to see the fire.I give it 5 stars because it does well what we wanted it to do: put out heat, no smoke, portabile.

Easy assembly and works great so far

The media could not be loaded. I was very happy with this. Easy assembly and seems to work great! A little bit of smoke coming from the open flame cap but it seemed to die off.

Can't bet the price to quality ratio

Sure you could spend an extra 200 bucks get something better insulated and get an extra hour out of your wood. But your adding weight to your load and spending alot to get a little. This stove has been great. Held up during some cold nights just fine burning hickory, cherry, and oak. Lite weight, packs away very small and as one unit. Draw air is vented well and easy to keep fire going. Best value for the cost. Just buy good hard wood and she will burn for around 3 and a half hours.

Doesn’t throw off enough heat

This stove is so cute, almost looks like a toy! I bought it for my Teepee (a real teepee, not a tent teepee), it is way too small to heat that big a space as it’s sold. I burned it first out in my driveway to burn off chemical fumes as suggested. After a few hours, I took it into the teepee and started a fire. The stove pipe did not reach the top of the teepee pole opening but the smoke did go out the top of the teepee without opening the smoke flaps (I ordered 4 more section of pipe). BUT yes smoke leaks from the top removable disk and stove door but not as much as an open fire pit in the middle of the teepee (which I removed because it took up too much floor space and smoked too badly). My teepee has a lining that acts as an insulator and air flow, but this tiny stove does not put out enough heat to even take the chill off inside )I’ve done many modifications. It may be good for a small tent or off grid lean to, but it will not work in a real teepee (you’d need a bigger stove for a real teepee but a bigger stove would take up too much floor space), my many modifications made it work for me), oh and because of the small space inside, it’s a bear to get started. I found it much easier to load from the top to get it going at first with the front door open. Also the air vent in front is hard to slide back & forth. I’m disappointed but I’ll keep it and keep trying to get it to be more efficient. Perhaps some high heat sealant will work and maybe a seal around the door to eliminate smoke inside the teepee. But it’s definitely does not heat a real teepee in our North Country of NY winters very easily.Revision: The way this stoves pipe is set up to install is also incorrect. The pipe installs allowing creosol to leak down the outside of the pipe. I purchased a section of pipe with female ends on both sides. This allows the pipe to be installed so the creosol flows down the inside of the pipe (as opposed to outside the pipe). Also the pipe needs to be removed and cleaned more often as the stove doesn’t make enough heat in the pipe to burn it out. Only burn hard wood to avoid creosol build up. I also bought a third set of pipe to go completely through the top of my teepee and beyond (pipe is about 18’ high from top of stove). I bought a section of screen heat resistant pipe to go through the top poles to prevent burning the canvas or support rope around the top of the teepee poles, this works great so the smoke flaps don’t need to be opened during rain or snow storms).Again, this stove is not really built for a real teepee, although it was suggested for a teepee (obviously a teepee TENT), but I have been able to make it work beautifully 👍

Kept us warm!

It did it's job 100%. A little heavy to hike with but to be expected, was worth it to stay warm a few nights. I'd say a full load gave us 30 minutes or so of warmth. 20 degrees F outside and was mid 60s in tent. Going to bed with a belly full of hot tea was a nice comfort when freezing outside.

Put up the money for a more reputable unit! DONT BUY!

I've had this product for a little over a week. I have burned approximately 4 fires in it. It seemed to be pretty good quality when I pulled it out of the box and the first burn of course as expected had a lot of off gassing. Now in use a few times, the interior is buckling, which didn't seem like much of a problem but the exterior is now not only buckling but it is also peeling paint. I thought I was being smart buying a cheaper unit, but turns out I was wrong.

Great but missing a piece

It puts out great out heat and can easily use it to stay warm camping in the winter. Sadly though, it came without a knob to open the ventilation? Quite frustrating when I try to open it to vent it.Otherwise, works it's purpose. Small enough to travel with it to camp in the mountains.
