Is this pump self priming?

This is a submersible, meaning it is supposed to be operated by sinking it below the fluid level. There is an inlet. Fluid will automatically fill the inlet and pump and that means that it is self priming. That is it anyone gets it that it is supposed to be covered in fluid, not used above or outside of the fluid.

Can the source of liquid be below the pump? Can a tube be dropped into a container and then this style of pump be used to draw the liquid up and out?

In my test, it did not appear to be self-priming. With a tube secured to the input, and dropped into water about 4" below the pump, it did not start pumping. The pump needed to be submerged for it to work. Can the seller please weigh in on this?

What're the size and thread pitch of the connectors?

If it is us units then it is 3/4-16 threads

How long are the leads leaving the pump? I want to use this in a water top off system for my aquarium.
