This Drill Has Serious Issues, I have Tried 2 Of Them

I would not recommend this drill to anyone. The 1st drill I received, trying to change the drill speed from low to high, or high to low, the speed switch got stuck up in the middle, oddly the drill would obviously be running, but the gears were not engaged. It was very difficult to attempt to change the drill speed. When I was able to get it to change speed, it did not seem much different switching from low speed to high speed as far as the actual speed of the drill is concerned. I returned the 1st drill, ordered a replacement 2nd drill thinking it was just a defective switch. The 2nd drill was worse, it had the same issues with trying to change the drill speeds. Another issue showed up, I set the drill on high speed, keep in mind I never even tried to drill anything with the drill, on high speed the drill would slip out of high speed, the switch would move all by itself to the center position, drill still running but the gears were not engaged. Do not buy this drill, the drill has too many design issues, being brand new, I can not imagine actually trying to drill any holes in anything with it. I am returning the 2nd one I received.

Nice features

This is working fine for me. I haven't had any issues with it. The chuck seems nice and strong and is all metal rather than having a cheap plastic cover. It's got plenty of torque. I've had a bit fall out when I ran it in reverse but I've had that with other drills too. The Chuck just loosens from the power of the drill, the jolt. That's nothing unusual. I've had that with almost every other drill I've had. It's too bad there's not a ring lock of some sort built into the chuck but I guess somebody will invent that someday. I'm using my deWalt knock-off drill with my big knock-off deWalt battery and I'm pleased to have another tool handy that works with my DeWalt batteries. I drove a couple screws and used the hammer mode so it kind of worked like an impact just mounting some smoke alarms. This seems to have really good torque. I don't know that I would use it for driving lags without pre-drilling but it seems capable. Everything functioned as it should. Reverse, forward, high low, are good to go. The torque settings 1 through 20 I can hold it at level 1 and it does a nice skip. I can hold it up to about 14 that's where it gets a little bit difficult to hold it. When I bring it up to 20 there's no holding the Chuck, it's going to warm up your hand plus you could file off a callus or two if you wanted to, the chuck has a nice knurled surface to grip it. I noticed that the battery does fit a little bit loose but I don't mind that at all it snaps into place and it stays where it's supposed to i'm not going to be shaking it like a tambourine so even if I did it's still going to stay on. So personally the one I have, everything's working the way it should so I'm quite pleased with it. Oh, I forgot to mention the little bit kit that came with it that's a nice bonus too.

Battery is very hard to take off.

Drill works well but battery is very difficult to remove. I have no problem on any of my other Dewalt tools.

DEROLT is not Dewalt

This item is not a DEWALT 20V MAX Hammer Drill, 1/2", Cordless and Brushless. It is a DEROLT that uses a Dewalt 20V battery.

Had me fooled when I ordered it, thought it was Dewalt. But NOT disappointed in ordering it!

BE AWARE - this is NOT a Dewalt, but a DEROLT. LOL Had me fooled when I ordered it, but also not disappointed that we DID order it. I have another DEWALT power tool and the batteries work GREAT on this model. Seems to last a good long while, too.My wife, judith, has been using this mostly - much more than I do. It's only been a couple of weeks and she has already installed a wood sheet under the eaves of the shed, hooks and hangers IN the shed to organize tools and more, hung curtain rods, repaired a few things, AND installed the last few pullouts in our cabinets in the kitchen. VERY versatile!!Likes:The chuck tightens and loosens easily for both of us, Judith particular likes this part as our electric drill is TOUGH for her sometimes. This drill, the chuck pops at the end of tightening and goes a little further to tighten completely. AMAZING how easily it does the job and the bits don't loosen or slide in the chuck.the forward and revers switch is easy to reach and use while in task, and without having to use your other hand.It has an adjustable torque on it which is awesome. If you don't want to screw the screws all the way through the wood like we have both had happen in the past, the adjustable torque helps you go a little slower and easier. When Judith was doing the eaves on the shed, she needed a bit more torque and LOVED that she could crank it UP to drive that screw in faster and easier. The grip is comfortable and makes it easy to use, too.Dislikes:It is HEAVY!!! Even without the battery, it is a heavy tool. This might not be great for some people. Definitely not easy to use over your head, so bring your ladder to your high tasks! We should all be doing this anyway to protect our upper backs and shoulders. The Phillips head bits that came with it are already stripped. Used three of them just under the eaves! Had to switch to some old ones we had laying around. This is not uncommon though - most of the sets of Phillips bits we buy nowadays are crappy. We have bought every kind imaginable and had a problem with them all. But just be aware if you are doing a long project, grab extras!Still exploring ALL the features included in this one, but if you are looking for a less expensive model, this might be the one for you!

A repositioning of the thumb reverse switch or a stiffer switch over all is needed.

The reverse switch is always in the way of my thumb or palm but other wise it is a quality drill.
