The Godzilla movie franchise has a long history, originating in Japan and then moving to Hollywood. The previous movie to be titled Godzilla was released in 1998. This Godzilla is the new movie, released in 2014. Directed by Gareth Edwards, it stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe and Elizabeth Olsen. The story begins decades back, in the 1950s. The US uses a hydrogen bomb to destroy a giant creature emerging from deep within the sea and covers it up as a nuclear test. Nearly 50 years later, in 1999, a team of scientists investigating a giant skeleton in a mine in Philippines discover two chrysalis, one of them open. Meanwhile, in Japan, the Janjira Nuclear experiences some strange seismological activity. A technical team is sent by the supervisor Joe Brody to look into the causes for this. The team, which includes Brody's wife Sandra, is killed in a freak accident. Fifteen years later, Ford Brody, who is in the US Navy as an explosives disposal technician, goes back to Japan when his her Joe is arrested for trespass. The her and son return to their old home and the ruined nuclear . There, they are detained by soldiers. Suddenly, a giant winged creature emerges from the ruins and flies away. In the ensuing chaos, Joe is inured and eventually dies. Ford Brody then teams up with the two scientists Ishiro Serizawa and Vivienne Graham, who first discovered the two giant chrysalis. They join the US Navy's task force that is searching for the creature which is dubbed MUTO (Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organism). The three also learn about the creature named Godzilla, which the US attempted to destroy when it set off the hydrogen bomb in the 1950s. As the team sets off on its search, they learn that there is a female wingless MUTO and the two creatures are communicating in order to meet and breed but the two creatures have a nemesis in the form of Godzilla. Their future depends on whether they will survive the navy task force's plans and more importantly, whether they will survive an attack by Godzilla. Godzilla, directed by Gareth Edwards, was released by Warner Bros. in 2014 in DVD format. The movie has a U/A Rating (Parental Guidance). This movie is in English and has a run time of 123 minutes.
